Easy access to contents of .New in developed packages

When I'm developing a package, I'm using the package's root page as a showcase for the apps contained within the package. Each such app has a file under /.New which will show up in the New panel for users who install my package. It would be nice if I as a developer could also see the files under my package's /.New in the new panel i.e. I wouldn't have to install the package just to test that the files under /.New show up and work ok.
